Policies

By purchasing a ticket to or entering Afterland, all guests agree to the following policies.

1. Admission and General Conduct

Afterland reserves the right to refuse entry to any guest or to remove any guest who violates these policies, without refund.

Guests are expected to treat all other guests, guild members, vendors, and performers with courtesy and respect. Harassment, threats, intimidation, and discrimination are not tolerated and will result in removal from the festival without refund.

In-character and faction play is welcome and stays play. Any guest may step out of a scene and have it stop immediately.

To report a concern, speak to any guild member or visit the operations tent near the gate.

2. Tickets and Bracelets

Tickets are available online only and must be purchased in advance. Tickets will not be sold at the gate.

The only authorized point of sale is through the Afterland website. Afterland cannot be held responsible for tickets purchased from a third party.

Tickets are non-transferable. Afterland does not process name changes, ticket swaps, or transfers. Guests who give their ticket to another person do so at their own risk.

Tickets are non-refundable. If the entire festival is cancelled before opening day, ticket prices will be refunded. No refunds will be issued for weather-related pauses, partial closures, or cancellation of individual activities.

The bracelet is the guest’s proof of entry. Bracelets must be worn at all times during the festival. Removed or damaged bracelets will not be replaced.

3. Costumes and Dress

Costumes are welcome from any era, ending, or world. Clothing and costumes with rude, vulgar, political, or otherwise offensive language or imagery are not permitted. Costumes that pose as police, fire, paramedics, or security are not permitted.

Full-face masks are permitted but must be removed when requested by guild members, security, or emergency services.

4. Props and Gear

Props, masks, goggles, respirators, armour, and decorative gear are welcome. All props are inspected and peace-tied at the gate before entry.

No working blades of any kind. No firearms. No replica firearms convincing enough to be mistaken for one. No fuel, pyrotechnics, or live flame in a guest’s hands. Fire at Afterland is lit and managed by trained guild members only.

No chainsaws, running or otherwise, and nothing with a motor that leaves the ground.

Any prop used in a dangerous or threatening manner will be confiscated and the guest may be removed without refund.

5. Prohibited Items

The following items are not permitted on the festival grounds:

• Outside food and drink, except baby food, formula, breast milk, and items required for medical reasons
• Alcohol, cannabis, and illegal drugs
• Glass containers, except small baby food jars
• Pets (service animals are welcome with proper documentation; emotional support animals are not permitted)
• Drones and remote-controlled devices
• Bicycles, skateboards, kick scooters, rollerblades, and wheeled shoes (strollers, wagons, wheelchairs, and mobility scooters are welcome)
• Suitcases and oversized bags
• Any item deemed harmful, disruptive, or dangerous by our guild

6. Bag Checks

Afterland reserves the right to inspect any person, bag, or item at the gate or anywhere on the festival grounds. Prohibited items must be returned to the guest’s vehicle. Afterland does not hold items on behalf of guests.

7. Alcohol

Alcoholic beverages are served only to guests aged 19 and over wearing a 19+ bracelet. The entire Neptune Drive-In grounds are covered under the festival’s liquor licence. Afterland reserves the right to refuse service to any guest.

8. Smoking and Vaping

Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere on the festival grounds, including near fire performance areas. This applies to cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vaporizers, and all tobacco or nicotine products.

9. Cannabis

Cannabis is not permitted anywhere on the festival grounds.

10. Vehicles and Machines

Vehicles and machines are displayed by arrangement only, in marked areas, with engines off unless a guild member directs otherwise. No burnouts, no revving after the sound curfew, and no vehicle movement while guests are walking through display areas.

11. Weather and Closures

Afterland is a rain-or-shine event. If extreme weather occurs, certain activities may be paused or cancelled, or part or all of the site may be closed, for the safety of guests and performers.

Pauses and closures are not refunded. If the entire festival is cancelled before opening day, ticket prices will be refunded.

12. Photography and Filming

Afterland is photographed and filmed, and images of guests may be used to promote the festival. Guests who prefer not to appear may notify the festival photographer. Personal photography is welcome. Commercial filming requires written permission from Afterland.

13. Assumption of Risk

Afterland includes fire performance, open fires, engines and vehicles, combat demonstrations, loud amplified music, flashing light, smoke, uneven ground, and limited lighting after dark. Guests attend at their own risk. Guests must stay behind barriers, keep to lit routes after dark, and follow all instructions from guild members.

14. Parlee Beach

Parlee Beach is a provincial park. All fires are lit and extinguished by festival crews only. Quiet hours are observed. Everything brought to the beach is taken away. Nothing is to be placed in or taken from the dunes.

15. First Aid and Lost and Found

For first aid, or to report a lost person or item, speak to any guild member or visit the operations tent near the gate. After the festival, contact afterland@shediacwonderland.ca about lost and found.
